2010 Family Law Conference

The Legal Aid Association of California, Judicial Council of California and the Administrative Office of the Courts: Center for Families, Children & the Courts are presenting the 2010 Family Law Conference February 18-19, 2010 in Los Angeles. The cost for non attorney, non-LAAC attendees is $125. MCLE credit is provided by the LAAC, an approved provider. Attendees can earn up to 10.5 hours of MCLE including 1.5 hours legal ethics and 3.0 hours of Elimination of Bias.

The LAAC, a statewide membership organization of legal services nonprofits, serves and strengthens its members through advocacy, training, and support in their efforts to provide critical legal assistance to low-income Californians and ensure equal access to justice.

The LAAC was founded by legal services programs in the early 1980s, in response to a community-wide resolution that a statewide legal services organization was needed to help programs collaborate and coordinate on issues of mutual concern. Over the past two decades, LAAC has remained true to its core mission to act as the unified voice for the legal services community, ensure a forum for legal services programs to coordinate, and provide high-quality training for legal services advocates. In 2009, LAAC's membership includes over 75 organizational members and over 50 individual members.

The conference offers seminars on a variety of family law issues unique to legal aid non-profits that for-profit companies often share. Topics include: Bringing the Best Out of People, Non-English Speakers - How to Reach Them, How to Serve Them, How to Effectively Serve Clients with Disabilities and Request Accomodation From the Courts, Modifing Support Orders, Intro to Basic Adoption, and many others.
